THE decision by the government to extend the conditional movement control order (MCO) till June 9 is indeed sensible. It must have taken into consideration the views and advice of both the Health Ministry and National Security Council as well as the appeal by a large segment of the population who felt that lifting the MCO at this stage was premature and would be counter-productive.
The conditional MCO introduced on May 4 opened up 27 economic sectors but put in place strict standard operating procedures (SOP) in recognition of the fact that the war against Covid-19 is far from over.
