Residents unhappy with quarantine centre in their midst

AS an owner and investor of a mixed development complex in Section 13, Petaling Jaya, I am appalled that the Health Ministry has designated a serviced apartment-cum-hotel in this area as a Covid-19 quarantine centre for Malaysians returning from overseas. This information was published in the Government Gazette dated April 4,2020 and a local daily on April 6.

The said complex has some 800 units of residential apartments, several shops and F&B outlets and a mobile population of about 2,000 residents. The potential health, safety and environmental risks these residents would be exposed to cannot be underestimated, not to mention the stigma and reputation that would be associated with these properties when the Covid-19 pandemic is over.
