Appeal for senior persons to be allowed to go out in twos

THE movement control order (MCO) has left many senior citizens with small families worried. This is because in the absence of the younger members of the family, only one ageing person, either the husband or wife, from the same household is allowed to go out to secure the urgently needed food and household items.

Besides their limited physical ability, there is still the grave concern of personal safety. An elderly person may not be as alert and sharp, mentally or physically, compared to a younger person when undertaking the important role of shopping. Obstacles, such as traffic or parking, be they minor or major, may distract them.
