Health literacy instils calm

THE seven new cases of Covid-19 that were confirmed on Tuesday mark the highest number of new cases recorded in a single day in Malaysia, “Total Covid-19 cases now at 36” (The Star, March 4).

Amid the global spread of Covid-19, the World Health Organisation has recommended that countries “rapidly assess their general population’s understanding of Covid-19, adjust national health promotion materials and activities accordingly, and engage clinical champions to communicate with the media” (https://bit.ly/2Q0rjeD). This recommendation shows the importance of health literacy in battling outbreaks of diseases.
