WE Malaysians should remember with gratitude the day 70 years ago, on Feb 23,1950, when our brave policemen, led by Sgt Jamil Mohd Shah, came under attack by an overwhelming number of communists and fought back with great valour.
The Bukit Kepong incident, as it is now called, was an armed encounter between the then Federation of Malaya Police and the Malayan Communist Party during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960).
