Right order on use of BM in civil service

I REFER to the letter “Civil service must retain English” (The Star, Feb 13). As a civil servant, I am compelled to share my thoughts on the matter. Without a doubt, the “Circular on Empowerment of The National Language in Civil Service” prioritises the use of Bahasa Malaysia in all official aspects of the government.

Hence, I would like to ask the writer to understand that all orders and instructions produced are in accordance with the Federal Constitution. However, the circular does allow dual language on matters involving official international affairs such as letters intended for international audiences, documents of treaties, and meetings that include non-Malaysians.
