Milestone in 18-year struggle for Sexual Harassment Act

THE All Women’s Action Society (Awam) welcomes the announcement made last week by the Deputy Prime Minister and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail that the Sexual Harassment Bill will be tabled in March this year.

The Sexual Harassment Bill is listed as item four under the commitment to ensure that legal systems support and defend the dignity and rights of women in Pakatan Harapan’s 2018 manifesto. Being one of two organisations that first started working on a Bill addressing sexual harassment in the 1990s, Awam is committed to seeing this Bill through.
