Deep state reason for lack of action

I AGREE with V. Thomas’ views in the letter “Don’t ignore calls and emails from the rakyat” (The Star, Jan 28). In fact, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad had stated in December 2019 that he would look into the existence of a “deep state” within the civil service that was supposedly sabotaging the Pakatan Harapan government. It is high time he did that.

On April 26 last year, I made a report about a damaged outdoor gym equipment to City Hall KL (DBKL). On May 6, I received a note from the Landscape and Recreational Development Department telling me that the broken equipment would be removed and a replacement would be installed by October 2019. That was a written assurance by the assistant landscape architect.
