Safety measures needed for elderly drivers

I RECENTLY had an unfortunate encounter with an elderly goods van driver who was manoeuvring his vehicle rather dangerously. He stayed between lanes and maintained a slow speed on the highway, causing a backlog of irate motorists honking at me as I was driving behind him. A tailgating driver could have easily smashed onto the back of my vehicle.

But I am less perturbed about the senior driver testing the patience of road users than the potential danger he poses to himself as well as others with his inability to drive steadily.
