MALAYSIAN athletes have failed to achieve the 70 gold medal target set by the National Sports Council (NSC) and Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) at the Philippines SEA Games 2019. They won only 56 gold, 57 silver and 71 bronze medals, finishing fifth overall.
The expected gold medals in bowling, sailing, shooting, athletics, ice skating and archery did not materialise. At least two medals were supposed to come from obstacle sports as well.
