Close medical schools to address glut of doctors


I REFER to the letter “We have too many doctors? Really?(The Star, Nov 18) by Disillusioned Malaysian Doctor. The writer makes some very interesting points. But let me comment on just one.

The idea of an ideal doctor population ratio is outdated and impractical. This is because doctors tend to move to crowded urban centres for various reasons, staying away from rural and remote areas. So, however many doctors are trained this maldistribution will remain.
