Tabung Harapan Malaysia funds used to pay 1MDB debts

WE refer to the letter “Report on Tabung Harapan, please” (The Star, Nov 5).

Kindly be informed that the Finance Ministry issued a press release dated May 16,2019 stating that all funds collected from Tabung Harapan Malaysia (THM) were used to pay off a portion of 1MDB’s debt due in 2019. This is in accordance with the procedures set out by THM’s Deed directive, which states that the funds collected are to be used solely for the purpose of repaying the Federal Government’s debts.
