Stricter penalties and enforcement needed to protect wildlife


I REFER to The Star’s article entitled “Post-mortem finds pygmy elephant was shot 70 times at close range, tusks removed” on Sept 29 (https://tinyurl.com/y64blos7).

It is sad to note that the elephant was tied by the riverbank, more than half of its body submerged in water and that it was shot more than 70 times at close range. It is very inhuman of the poacher, who is such a ruthless killer.
