IT is indeed heartening to learn of the government’s commitment to combat poaching by assigning a special battalion to aid the Wildlife Department in patrolling the country’s jungles.
The number of wild tigers left is estimated to be only 250. This is alarming and shows that all efforts in the past to protect our tigers have not been successful. At best, they have only slowed the rate of their decline.
