I READ with great interest the StarEdu report “New syllabus good, but can be better” (Sunday Star, June 23). It brought back nostalgic memories of the years 1966-67 when I was studying English Literature at Batu Pahat High School.

I went through six years of primary education at Cheng Siu Chinese Primary School, Batu Pahat before switching to an English-medium school. My cohort of boy pupils from Chinese primary schools in Batu Pahat district were sent to Sekolah Dato’ Bentara Luar for Remove Form One and then to Sekolah Menengah Rendah for Form One to Form Three.
