Coming of age for youth

WE do not get good news from the Youth and Sports Ministry every day, especially after the toppling down of the previous government on May 9 last year. Hence, when I saw the report that Parliament had approved the amendment to the Youth Societies and Youth Development Act, (Amendment) 2019 (Act 668), on Tuesday (July 3) after almost five hours of debate by 17 MPs, I had to read it a few times to convince myself that it was true.

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had tabled the amendment, which changes the definition of youth by lowering the maximum age from 40 to 30, and for this new age limit to be spelt out in the Malaysian Youth Policy.
