THE issue is not about determining the effects of lowering the voting age from 21 to 18 on election outcomes, “Too early to determine effects, say political analysts” (The Star, July 3).

Voting at the age of 18 years merits strong debate and consideration. Note that in neighbouring Thailand, Brunei, Philippines, Indonesia and even in Iran and India, the voting age is 18.
