Where is the concern for the mother?

I REFER to the article on baby dumping which appeared in The Star on June 29 (“Wan Azizah: Baby dumping cases need to be tackled urgently”; online at bit.ly/star_baby).

I note with concern that the best interest of the mother of the child is not considered. The focus is mainly on the rescued baby rather than the mother who, in many cases, is usually a child herself who is without a proper support system. The young mother in any discussion appears to be left out when it comes to her rights and well-being.
