IN conjunction with the Inter-national Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking yesterday, June 26, Amnesty International is calling on the authorities of Malaysia to introduce legislation at the forthcoming session of Parliament to repeal the mandatory death penalty for all crimes.

This would be a critical first step towards full abolition of the death penalty and reform of the country’s punitive response to drug trafficking and crime.
