THERE is a pressing need for a new interfaith subject in schools. Knowledge about all the religions practised in this country should be taught as a formal subject. Such studies would strengthen unity and harmony in this multiracial and multireligious country.

When children are exposed to the different religious practices and faiths of Malaysia, there will be a better understanding and tolerance of one another. There will be greater respect for and acceptance of each others’ religious practices.
