Tragedy in Sri Lanka a reminder to be alert

THE bomb attacks on churches and high-end hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday would surely have raised questions among Malaysians as to how prepared we are if such a devastating incident occurred in our country.

Apparently, intelligence services in Sri Lanka were forewarned of the possibility of such an attack, but preventive measures were not put in place to stop or at least minimise the extent of the carnage. This reflects poorly on the relevant agencies in Sri Lanka and those concerned definitely have a lot of explaining to do.
