WE refer to the article “Yeoh defends decision to give RM20k from ministry funds to SIS” (The Star, March 21; online at bit.ly/star_funds) addressing the financial support pledged by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to the organisation known as Sisters in Islam (SIS).
SIS is well-known for views that do not represent the normative Islam of the majority. The ministry should indeed work hand-in-hand with different agencies in pursuing its objectives.
