THE Solidarity4Peace rally at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday was a very pertinent response to the tragedy in Christchurch, New Zealand where Muslims at two mosques were gunned down, leaving 50 dead and many others injured.

At the rally, Malaysians of diverse races and religions stood together and demonstrated to the world that they abhorred and strongly condemned the despicable act. Organised by the Prime Minister’s Department (Islamic Religious Affairs Department) and Committee to Promote Inter-Faith Understanding and Harmony in collaboration with the Civil Society Organisation, the gathering was attended by 50 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Sikh, Taoist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim religious associations.
