Be a life-saver for birds during the heatwave

A POST by the Malaysian Meteorological Department on its Facebook page says we are in the midst of a heatwave that is expected to hit temperatures as high as 36.9°C in some areas.

Let’s think about the welfare of birds in this heat. Unlike humans, birds lack the ability to sweat, but they have their own fascinating mechanism to keep cool in hot weather. Birds need fresh water to drink and bathe in. Taking a dip in water and shaking the drops through their feathers helps to keep them clean and also cools them down.
