Strong leadership needed to boost growth

BORN in Perak, I grew up in Taiping and Ipoh but I now live in Klang Valley. I was pleasantly surprised by the noticeable improvements in Taiping when I spent a few days there during the Chinese New Year holidays.

Taiping, the town known to have the highest rainfall in Malaysia, is clean, green and has a good balance between modernity and heritage. Taiping folks are friendly and the variety of food, from cendol and sup gearbox to the fresh seafood from the nearby fishing villages, available is an attraction for tourists to visit this once sleepy town.
