Let’s open the highway of kindness

THE National Kindness Week is a good initiative. I think of the first principle of our Rukunegara, “Belief in God”, and believe there is a God-shaped capacity in us to show kindness.

During the holy month of Ramadan, my Muslim friends reflect on, among other spiritual matters, how they can continue to extend acts of kindness to others. My Hindu colleagues exemplify kindness and expand this gentleness to animals by abstaining from meat. The Christian community talks about the spirit of God giving them love, joy, peace and kindness.
