More facilities needed to rescue abused animals

BRAVO to the team from the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) that rescued the mother and baby macaques kept in a small cage outside a house in Miri with no shelter from the sun and rain, “Protected macaques rescued by SFC” (The Star, Feb 2).

The Miri Forestry Department chief shared that the department can get up to four complaints about animal abuse a day but it doesn’t have facilities like cages, transport or space to rescue or shelter the animals. So the complaints are left unattended.
