Crying out for revised pension formula

WE, a group of government pensioners and former trade union leaders, would like to emphasise that it was agreed during the meeting of the National Joint Council for Science and Technology Supportive Group of Civil Servants in Kota Baru, Kelantan on March 28 and 29, 1994 that the calculation for the amount of pension for retiring government servants would be based on a person’s full years of service.

This agreement was subsequently approved by the government and was supposed to be implemented with effect from Jan 1, 1995. But it couldn’t be done due to economic constraints and the downturn in 1997.
