More to Olympian Karu than meets the eye

I JOIN all Malaysian sports enthusiasts in congratulating The Star for coming up with what I understand is to be a series of articles under the theme “Voice of The Olympians” as a tribute to some of our outstanding athletes who competed in the Olympic Games.

The first of these articles featured Commodore (R) Karu Selvaratnam, “From waterboy to Olympian” (StarSports, Jan 23). I am afraid the reporter appears to have obtained the relevant facts for the story from only Karu himself, who, no doubt due to misplaced modesty, omitted to give a full account of his extraordinary and wide contribution to sports in Malaysia.
