TRADITIONALLY, people talk about doctors as selfless, caring people. From the moment you mention the idea of wanting to be a doctor, people start drilling into you that practicing medicine is not at all about power or money or being up on that pedestal just because you can save lives/help people. It requires a lot of studying, money, hard work and, most importantly, time and emotional strength.
This past year, younger doctors have got a lot of attention. As with most things, there was an uproar, a big “hoo-ha” about how senior doctors treat the junior ones. And again, all that noise did not amount to anything much, in my opinion. A few grand gesture meetings and, once the noise died down, so did the plans for change. Essentially, everything remains the same.
