Focus on more chances for good education

I FULLY agree with T. K. Chua’s comments in his letter “Allow TAR UC and UTAR leeway to adjust” (The Star, Nov 24). It is widely recognised that Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) are very successfully run and have produced many successful professionals. I believe there are many who are in political parties like the DAP.

We must not deny the fact that the MCA is largely responsible for this achievement. Yet, it did not receive the voters’ support in the last two general elections because people were able to differentiate between politics and education. Why can’t the Pakatan Harapan government do the same? Why would I care who is behind these institutions as long as they provide opportunities for quality education, especially for the middle and lower income groups? Withdrawing the matching grant is simply not acceptable!
