Focus on substance to herald new era for Malaysia

First, change the school timetable and remove subjects that are shadows. Teach subjects like cookery, tailoring, hair-dressing, carpentry, and metal work. Students, especially those who are not academically-inclined, who take up such courses can make a living. Let those students who like to read books take up courses like medicine, engineering, dentistry and architecture. Let students choose their career paths. In this way, the average students could be gainfully employed while the smart ones could become professionals.

Second, on the matter of shoes, let the students wear either white or black shoes. Those poor parents should not be forced to buy black shoes for their children while the white shoes are still usable. Moreover, we will not disrupt the plans of shoe manufacturers and upset traders with stocks of white shoes who will make a loss if the switch is made.
