WE refer to the report “Separate role for property managers” (StarBiz, The Star, Oct 29) and fully agree that a separate, independent Board of Property Managers is urgently required in Malaysia. The Building Management Association of Malaysia (BMAM) has, for the past decade or so, been urging the government to consider this. There are several reasons for our request:

1. Property management is a multi-disciplinary managerial function, hence it needs multi-skilled persons to manage and maintain buildings effectively;
