Taking politics out of sports management

THANKFULLY, our new Youth and Sports Minister views sports as a vehicle for boosting nationalism and economic and social development. As such, he sees it as within his purview to enact policies and legislation to support, control or regulate the management and activities of sports organisations.

I presume that his first task is to put Malaysia in the 10 top medal winners during the forthcoming Asian Games. We hope the elite athletes representing our country will not disappoint not only the Sports Minister but also the Prime Minister who has unreservedly given 100% support to Team Malaysia in their quest for medals.
