HAVING over 40 years of experience working for large trading companies and being an importer myself, I would humbly like to share my experiences with the SST (sales and services tax).

Large international importers did not under-declare their goods under the SST system. However, the smaller importers would collaborate with their suppliers on lower invoices so they could pay lower sales taxes – which, of course, reduces the revenue collected by the government. And it also disadvantaged many honest importers.
