Review the number of foreign ’experts’ in Malaysia

I APPLAUD the Human Resources Ministry’s stand on reducing the influx of foreign workers in general. However, as a former human resources practitioner, I would like to inform everyone concerned that besides the inflow of foreign general workers, the influx of foreign professionals in many private organisations is high, and it directly affects the jobs of many Malaysians.

Private organisations, specifically multinational corporations (MNCs), have a preference for hiring foreign professionals who are so called experts. The justification is the “expertise” that these foreigners possess that apparently not even a single Malaysian has attained. As person who has worked in human resources for more than 10 years, I sincerely feel that this reason is totally ridiculous and baseless.
