Foreign owners helpless with no strata titles

IN the 1990s, many Malaysian developers launched high-end condominium projects in the Klang Valley. Road-shows were held overseas to market these condominium units and because of the attractive foreign exchange rates favouring the foreigners back then, the properties were readily snapped up.

Today, these foreign buyers are seeing at least a two-fold capital gains in their investments. They should be elated but they aren’t, and this is because they have no strata titles for the properties they own.
