I REFER to the letter, “Why scoring As is vital” (The Star, April 24). The writer states that “It is simply because parents want the best for their children. They want to prepare their children for life in the dog-eat-dog world out there, so don’t blame them – or teachers for that matter.” I see a serious flaw in this reasoning. Is it “the best” to create another “dog” to fit into the “dog-eat-dog” world out there? Two wrongs don’t make a right.
However, the writer has correctly pointed out the source of the problem – those awarding scholarships and employers.
