Trusting EC for fair elections

THE 14th General Election (GE14) will be closely watched both at home and internationally. Malaysia has caught world attention for all sorts of reasons. Fortunately, some are humorous in nature. One which created a lot of jokes everywhere was the crude comment made by a state mufti about “sex on a camel” to illustrate his point that in Islam, the husband has rights over his wife or wives at any time.

The “Muslim only” launderette in Johor also became a hit in world and regional news. A third one, which is not so funny, was RUU 355 which raised eyebrows among locals and foreigners alike, who wondered whether Malaysia was heading in the wrong direction.
