OVER the past decades, many drivers of metered taxi were known for taking passengers for a ride by choosing longer routes to clock higher charges, fixing the fare instead of using the meter, or fleecing foreign tourists with exorbitant prices.
They were also notorious for declining trips that were not lucrative or out of their way.
