Take stern action on originators of fake news

THE Dual Language Programme (DLP) had an uncertain start this year after one “Cikgu Nurul” spread via social media that it was to be put on hold in 2018. The news was greeted with dismay by concerned parents all over the country and was later denied by the Education Ministry.

Now that the issue has been resolved, what about this person, “Cikgu Nurul”, who spread the news in the first place? I feel that MCMC should investigate and take stern action against anyone who spreads fake news, particularly when such news can cause social unrest among the people.
