I REMEMBER the days when my mother hit me with a cane every time I misbehaved. When she couldn’t find the cane because I had hidden it, she used a clothes hanger. I was her only child but that didn’t stop my mother from punishing me for bad behaviour.
When I was enrolled in primary school, I remember my mother telling my class teacher to hit me whenever I misbehaved, and she got her wish.
