No place for sexism in Parliament House

I REFER to the article, “Respect in and for the House” by Azmi Sharom (The Star, Nov 22) and other articles, “Stop this ‘raba-raba’ business” (The Star, Nov 22), “Sabah BN leaders flay Shafie”, “ Opposition leader weeps after being evicted” and “Shouting match nearly ends up as a fist fight” (The Star, Nov 23).

Backbencher Datuk Seri Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin has again brought shame to the august House by using crude language and making a mockery of the strict operating procedures at all international airports around the world to prevent hijacking and terrorist acts. His statement, “Buy a scanning machine instead” shows his ignorance. Scaners already exist and frisking of passengers is a standard operating procedure all over the world. Security personnel should be commended for doing a thorough job, not made fun of. Bung Mokhtar may have had the “House in stitches” but his comments had the rest of the country reeling in shock, embarrassment and shame.
