New approach to mental health

REFERRING to the two letters on mental health, “Need support for good mental health” (The Star, Oct 14) and “When pain can be a problem of the mind” (Oct 19), I agree with the views of both writers on the need for more emphasis on mental health in the workplace and in the clinic setting.

The stigma and apathy in addressing mental illness have their origins in the way the subjects of psychiatry and management of mental illness were taught not only in Malaysia but in most parts of the world as well.
