Give children more time for other activities

I AGREE with the writer of the letter “High expectations too much for young pupils” (The Star, Oct 16). I have no children or grandchildren of school-going age but I have seen my relatives’ young kids who are always exhausted at the end of the day.

There should be a reasonable amount of homework to enable young children to learn their subjects. But loading them with too much will not only exhaust them but also rob them of time to take up recreational activities which are important for their physical health and growth.
