Duty of care to patients

REFERRING to the letter “Recalling the pain of elderly father’s tragic death” (The Star, July 12), I extend my sympathies and condolences to the writer.

What struck me most about the episode was the manner in which the needed medical care was not provided by both the private and government health entities. In the first place, the private hospitals both failed in their obligations to provide initial medical care, whatever the excuse given by the attending doctors at the ER.
