Multiracial support will improve rugby

THIS is in support of the letter “Actually, not all races play rugby now” (The Star, April 22). In the years gone by, rugby greats like Nashatar Singh, Dattaya, Cheong Kai Yong, Brian Pestana, Aziz Ismail and many more came from all walks of life and through the school system. It was a truly

multiracial sport. Numerous schools became famous for and synonymous with rugby, especially Malay College, Anderson School, King Edward, Victoria Institution and English College Johore Bahru. These schools churned out many great players who went on to represent their state XV’s and the country.
