Teach girls to be aware of sexual predators

SEX is a subject that is not openly discussed in our society, which is why educating young Malaysians about it is an onerous task. Though sexual and reproductive health is taught in our schools, the subject itself does not address intimate matters such as sexual consent.

A nationwide survey has revealed that 34% of our young people do not know that sexual consent is important or that no one can force another to perform any sexual act, and that those who engage in sexual activity with girls below 16 years of age can be charged with rape.
