The irony of our medical accreditation policy

In reference to “Malaysian receiving ACS scholarship after 22 years gap” (The Star, Oct 31), I would like to extend my congratulations to Dr Christopher Ho Chee Kong and hope this will encourage more of our doctors to experience medical training in America.

However, I would like to share my experience training in Medicine and also state the irony of our accreditation process. I was training in internal medicine in Britain and America. After completing my MRCP (UK), completing four required exams (USMLE) and attending multiple interviews, I moved to America. It was the best decision I made for my medical career.
