More needs to be done to stop abductions

AS long as there is good money to be made, kidnapping in the waters off the east coast of Sabah will continue. The latest incidents, as reported in “Fishing boat owner abducted” (The Star, Sept 29), show how porous our waters in the east coast of Sabah are.

We must accept that it is highly impossible to patrol every inch of the area and it is also unfair to blame the security forces for failing to stop the intrusions. Nonetheless, it is their responsibilty to ensure that the sovereignty of the nation is defended and upheld.
